Soup!

soupOne of my favorite things to eat is soup.  They serve tomato soup at school every other week but for the longest time, Momma never served it at home.  She claims she didn’t think I would like it.  Not like soup????  But finally she noticed that I ate several servings of it at school and so she bought me some sweet potato bisque.  It was a beautiful creamy orange concoction that stained my face and my dishes.  I loved it.  I smeared it all over myself.  I asked for “soup” all the rest of the week until I had finished the box.

One other great thing I noticed about soup is that I seem to get a bath on the days I eat it.  Not sure what the connection is, but usually the bath immediately follows the soup.

They let me eat cake!!!

Momma and Daddy threw me a birthday party this weekend. There were more people in my house than I’ve ever seen and banners and presents and food! Grandma Joyce gave me Momma’s old rockin’ chair. Grandpa Gene gave me a cool pair of Keens. Grandma and Grandpa G. sent me a frog to love. I got some toys and some cards and got to have lots of fun being cute and showing off my splint. But the best part was the birthday cake. Momma loosened up for once and let Daddy bake me a chocolate cake (she was gonna get a “healthy” carrot cake). They came at me with it all of a sudden with everyone making lots of noise and part of the cake was on fire. Cousin Jack put the fire out for me.

The cake was sooooo good. Best food I’ve had yet. Soft and oh-so chocolatey. I ate and ate. I licked the frosting off of the plastic wrap Momma had put on my splint. And it went really well with my new favorite beverage, milk. I made a real mess of myself and caused much amusement and flashing of lightbulbs. I hope I don’t have to wait another year for more of this good stuff!

Thanks to all who came to my party: Carly, Brad, blogging-buddy Elias, Caroline, Fiona, Christine, Lee, Diana, Milan, Auntie Mandy, Uncle John, Cuz Jack and Ryan, and Grandma and Grandpa.

Dinner Delights

I had a fabulous dinner this evening. Here’s the menu:

amous bouche
array of organic kamut puffs

appetizer
pile of organic black beans

salad
hand-grated cheddar cheese

main course
breaded tofu rectangles with cumin

vegetable
jar of organic spinach and potato

dessert
yogurt with swirl of peach puree

Now, if that seems like a lot, it is. But the important part is that much of it was finger food. Momma has been trying to get me off the jarred food, but I usually react to table food by shoving it away, throwing it on the floor, or throwing it up. I’m averse to texture and chunks of any kind. And so it’s a bit of a miracle that I ate such a variety, and with quite a bit of relish- pun intended. I rejected the tofu at first, but after the spinach I decided to give it a try and shoved it all in my mouth at once. The old girl (Momma) was so pleased she nearly peed her pants. (I peed my pants at least once during dinner, but that’s neither here nor there.)

But the food wasn’t the best part of dinner for me. What was the best was Momma let me feed myself with a spoon. I dipped it in the spinach jar and then put the (correct) end into my mouth. I did so well that she let me feed myself the yogurt too. She’s on cloud 9.

Well, have to go… apparently I need a bath.
