Bit!
Today, only my second day at my new daycare center, was very upsetting. This morning I was playing with one of the other toddlers. We started to struggle over a toy and SHE BIT ME! It really hurt and I have red teeth marks on my arm. It was horrible and Momma was nowhere to be found. My new teachers tried to comfort
me, but I hardly know them or whether I can trust them yet.
They did send the biter home, but I suppose she’ll be back tomorrow. (I’m not allowed to tell Momma exactly who bit me, but she has figured it out. She says she’s going to give the little girl the stink eye next time she sees her.)
This whole new house, new daycare, new schedule business is really stressing me out, and getting bit when I’m just trying to make new friends is not helping. I want to go back to my old daycare. Momma says she wishes so too, but it’s just not possible. She also said that these things will happen now that I’m running with an older crowd, and that little kids only get meaner as they get older. We also had a long talk about biting and why I shouldn’t start biting too.

No surgery for me
I met a nice man, Dr. King, today. He says that there is a very good chance my finger will just grow back normal. In fact, it’s already started to “remodel” itself. This is good news and makes Momma and Daddy happy that I don’t have to get any anesthesia. I was curious to learn about what Daddy does for a living… but I guess it’s better that I don’t learn first-hand.
My finger bone is broken into two parts and one part is sticking straight up. But it’s broken in such a way that I can still bend my finger, and it doesn’t hurt. So, the splint is off and I’m back to my usual two-handed antics. I just have to go back for more x-rays in a month to see how the remodeling is going.

One Tough Cookie
A couple of weeks ago I was playing with one of the dining room chairs and accidentally pulled it down on top of myself. Part of it hit my middle finger and I screamed and my finger swelled up and
turned purple. I made a fuss at first but then calmed down when Momma and Daddy comforted me. They had a look and since my finger wasn’t disfigured and I was able to bend it they figured I would be ok. Momma even called the doctor’s office and the nurses said that swelling and purple were ok so long as I could move the finger and it didn’t cause me pain.
But when the swelling didn’t go down they showed my finger to the Dr. and then I had to go get an x-ray at the hospital. The hospital has cool, huge toys. The x-ray tech was nice so I gave him a hug. But then he told Momma my finger was broken and that I had to go to the ER. I got examined by lots of people who seemed amazed that my finger doesn’t bother me. I got a splint (which I plan to pull off at the first opportunity) and an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon.
Momma is very upset and feels very badly about this. I told her not to worry. It’s just a broken finger- it don’t hurt but a bit. I can deal.
Anyway, here’s a photo of me with my splint. It’s heavy and is fun to bang on things. Unfortunately, it’s on my wavin’ hand.
