Easter Egg Hunt

easter01

This morning when I came down the stairs there was an Easter basket waiting for me!  In it were two pretty eggs that Momma and Daddy had colored for me.  And a new bunny-potato head.  I refused to eat the hard-boiled egg even though eggs (scrambled) are one of my favorite foods.

easter02The most fun was had outside where Daddy had “hidden” colored plastic eggs around the backyard.  I took my basket outside and started searching and collecting.  Imagine my joy when I discovered that each plastic egg contained two dried cherries (my all-time favorite food which I never get to eat enough of because they make my poop funky.  Doesn’t bother me, but it seems to bother those who change my diapers).  Anyway, this activity was so much fun that we repeated the egg hiding and finding several times.

Halloweeeeeeeen!

Costumes require comfort objects

This year was my first real Halloween experience.  And I resisted at first.  I wasn’t “down” with the whole costume thing.  At first bought a pug costume and forced me into it.  I cried.  It was too small anyway, so it went back to the store. In exchange, Momma brought home a witch costume, figuring it was more like normal clothes and that I would be more accepting.  But normal clothes are not made of cheap, crunchy fabric.  They spent a week trying to warm me up to the witch hat.  When it came time to put on the dress, I protested.  I relented, but demanded to be allowed the comfort of my bink and blanket in order to wear it.

Since it was so nice out, we just sat on the porch and waited for the kids to come.  Daddy showed me how to hand out candy and I got a real kick out of doing that.  I was afraid of some of the scarier costumes, Darth Vader in particular, but eventually warmed up to the whole costume thing.  I even wore my hat and danced some.halloween_happy

Momma and Daddy had decorated the house earlier today with spiderwebs and creepy lawn installations.  They thought it was halloween_witchpretty funny when the cackling witch scared me to tears.  Here is a photo of me just before the witch screamed at me.  I don’t like those decorations and stayed clear afterwards.

We sat on the porch past sunset.  I figured out the the pretty foil wrappers have tasty tasty treats inside, and I got a little sugar high.  I stood on our sidewalk, a piece of candy in each outstretched hand, and hollered “HI” “HI” “HI”, hoping to bring in more customers.  But it was bedtime.halloween_candyhalloween_pumpkins

Anyway, it was a good time.  Next year I might try the trick or treat thing myself, but handing out candy was alot of fun.

Fireworks

Are cool.  They don’t scare me at all.  I watched them for a few minutes, then went to sleep.

They let me eat cake!!!

Momma and Daddy threw me a birthday party this weekend. There were more people in my house than I’ve ever seen and banners and presents and food! Grandma Joyce gave me Momma’s old rockin’ chair. Grandpa Gene gave me a cool pair of Keens. Grandma and Grandpa G. sent me a frog to love. I got some toys and some cards and got to have lots of fun being cute and showing off my splint. But the best part was the birthday cake. Momma loosened up for once and let Daddy bake me a chocolate cake (she was gonna get a “healthy” carrot cake). They came at me with it all of a sudden with everyone making lots of noise and part of the cake was on fire. Cousin Jack put the fire out for me.

The cake was sooooo good. Best food I’ve had yet. Soft and oh-so chocolatey. I ate and ate. I licked the frosting off of the plastic wrap Momma had put on my splint. And it went really well with my new favorite beverage, milk. I made a real mess of myself and caused much amusement and flashing of lightbulbs. I hope I don’t have to wait another year for more of this good stuff!

Thanks to all who came to my party: Carly, Brad, blogging-buddy Elias, Caroline, Fiona, Christine, Lee, Diana, Milan, Auntie Mandy, Uncle John, Cuz Jack and Ryan, and Grandma and Grandpa.

Happy Easter!

No candy for me, but lots of fuzzy things. Fuzzy bunny, fuzzy dog, fuzzy bunny. And lots of new summer clothes from Grandma and Grandpa. We went out to eat at Carnival. There was a jazz band playing in the bar and I showed off all I’ve learned in Wiggleworms.

I got to spend time with G’ma Joyce and G’pa Gene. They take some getting used to, but I warmed up to them after a while. G’ma scared me by popping into the bathroom while I was taking a bath. Sorry for the girly shriek, but I was naked and wasn’t expecting visitors!

Happy New Year!

newyear.gifWell, I slept right through my first New Year’s Eve. I can barely stay up until 8pm these days so I figured 11:59pm was pushing it.

But, I did make a new year’s resolution: to try new foods.

There are a few other things I’m hoping to accomplish this year such as walking (I got the hang of crawling before Christmas), talking, and feeding myself.

Christmas!!!

Today I learned about this awesome ritual called Christmas.  From what I can tell, it involves lots of paper and ribbon and cardboard and family sitting around together playing with paper and ribbon and cardboard.  I like these things, so I had fun.  Momma and Daddy kept trying to distract me from all the paper fun by showing me other things like toys and clothes, and I think that might be part of the Christmas game.  I kept my focus on the paper and ribbon.

All this happened while we were up in Minnesota visiting Grandma and Grandpa and all my aunties and uncles and cousins.  There were so many people to entertain that I hardly found time for napping.  Thankfully cousin Ryan was there too and he could help with keeping the adults occupied and out of trouble.  You have to watch them constantly.

It was a nice vacation and a break from school. Sure did snow a lot.
