Frooooggy!
My favorite book to read lately is “Froggy Gets Dressed” by Jonathan London. I picked out this book at the library. It’s about a young frog who wants to go out and play in the snow but keeps getting reminded by his mama to put on more warm clothes. I help Momma read it by playing the part of Froggy’s mama and calling “Frooooooggy” at the appropriate times. Sometimes I also like to answer for Froggy by replying, “What?”.

What I’m reading (over and over again)
I have two new favorite books now. One is an illustrated version of an old childrens’ song, Ten in the Bed illustrated by Penny Dale. I like the rhythm of the story (I sometimes swing back and forth while Mommy reads it), the repetition, and the sound effects that come as each stuffed animal is rolled out of bed. It reminds me of my bed and all the stuffed animals that sleep with me every night: Frogger, Teddy, Turtle, my dog Blue, and Tony the pony.
I had been reading this book at home several times a night for several weeks when to my sheer delight, a copy showed up at daycare too! Now I can read it day and night!
My other favorite book to read right now is one I have been having Mommy read over and over again
for several months and which reflects my fascination with my own Momma: Mama, Where Are You? I actually ask for this book by its title and the only reason she reads it to me over and over again willingly is because I am so cute when I say, “Mama” on each page- just like the baby animals in the book do. But Momma trys to keep it interesting. Sometimes she says “Mama, where are you?” in a different voice for each baby animal. And lately we’ve been adding some actions. For example, I now know that skunks are stinky and I hold my nose when I see the skunk.

I love Books
Recently I’ve been hooked on my small library of baby books. I could have Momma or Daddy read them to me over and over again for hours. It’s a fun ritual. They sit on the couch, I bring a book, they help me up and then read the book to me. Then I get off the couch and go get another book for them to read, and then another and another.
I do have some favorites though. I like the “Where Is Baby’s Bellybutton” book because I can really sympathize with the babies in the book who keep getting asked to point to different parts of their bodies. Daddy makes me do this frequently.
I also really dig the QUIET LOUD book by Leslie Patricelli. Mommy alternates between whispering and yelling on different pages. It’s really fun. Sometimes I know what she’s going to do next (like bark like a dog) and I will bark with her. I get a real kick out of the silly way she reads this book and sometimes I can’t get enough of it. I make her read it over and over and when she doesn’t change the pages fast enough I ask for “more, more”.
But my absolute favorite is Babies. It’s a simple picture book of babies doing different things. But since I learned to sign, this book has been great because I can read it myself. I use signs to tell what the babies on the different pages are doing. For example, “eat”, “drink milk”, “brush teeth”, “sleeping”, and “playing peek-a-boo.” Momma and Daddy are real proud of me when I read this book to them.

Rainbow Rob- Book Review
I just can’t get enough of my new book, Rainbow Rob. I have no clue what it’s about, but each page has a different texture on it for me to feel. My favorites are the red fox’s fluffy eyebrows and the purple butterfly’s corrugated abdomen. It’s pretty to look at too, and I love to sit on my own and flip back and forth through the pages. Over and over and over and over…

What I’m Reading
Tonight my bedtime book was “Belly Button Book” by Sandra Boynton. It’s about hippos who love their belly buttons. I followed along pretty well, mostly for the colors and shapes on the pages. I really wanted to taste it, but Momma wouldn’t let me.
“Bee-bo!”
