I love Books

Recently I’ve been hooked on my small library of baby books.  I could have Momma or Daddy read them to me over and over again for hours.  It’s a fun ritual.  They sit on the couch, I bring a book, they help me up and then read the book to me.  Then I get off the couch and go get another book for them to read, and then another and another.

I do have some favorites though.  I like the “Where Is Baby’s Bellybutton” book because I can really sympathize with the babies in the book who keep getting asked to point to different parts of their bodies.  Daddy makes me do this frequently.

I also really dig the QUIET LOUD book by Leslie Patricelli.  Mommy alternates between whispering and yelling on different pages.  It’s really fun.  Sometimes I know what she’s going to do next (like bark like a dog) and I will bark with her.  I get a real kick out of the silly way she reads this book and sometimes I can’t get enough of it.  I make her read it over and over and when she doesn’t change the pages fast enough I ask for “more, more”.

But my absolute favorite is Babies. It’s a simple picture book of babies doing different things.  But since I learned to sign, this book has been great because I can read it myself.  I use signs to tell what the babies on the different pages are doing.  For example, “eat”, “drink milk”, “brush teeth”, “sleeping”, and “playing peek-a-boo.”  Momma and Daddy are real proud of me when I read this book to them.

My New School is Awesome!

It’s only been a week, but it’s been a really good week. We weren’t happy with my first daycare since the big move so we checked out several more in the area and found a really good one.  It’s a demonstration school for one of the local college’s Early Childhood Education program.  So they have to do everything by the book (change my diaper every 2 hours, make sure there’s enough teachers, keep my hands clean, etc.)  All of my teachers are really smart and fun.  The program is really small, so I get lots of teacher time to myself.  The building is new and the toddler room is brand new with all new toys.  There is a water table that I love to play with, a “dramatic play area” with a little fridge and stove, and lots of different types of chairs.  There is a big outdoor area with a slide and sprinklers and bubble-makers.  I like to throw the ball around!  And there is a big indoor play area too.

I got to meet my teachers before I started there.  Mommy and I made a visit and spent time all by ourselves in the toddler room with the teachers.  Then the teachers came to my house and played with me there.  Come Monday, I was already used to it all and I haven’t fussed once since Mommy started dropping me off there.  (I used to scream like crazy when she left me at the other place.)

One thing I don’t like it that there is an “observation room” that Mommy and Daddy can go in to spy on me.  There are microphones hanging from the cieling of my room and a big mirrored wall that they can hide behind and watch me without me knowing it.

So far there are only two other boys in the room, but I hear that some more kids will be starting next week.  I will try to be nice to them and not push them or grab them by the collar of thier shirt and throw them on the floor (ok, really, he was much bigger than me.  I didn’t think I could actually do it).  But if I happen to, I hope that Mommy or Daddy aren’t secretly watching.

“Where’s your nose? Where’s your ear? Where’s your bellybutton?!?!?”

So, I’m becoming a self-actualized baby.  I mean, little woman….

Daddy started asking me all kinds of silly questions this week.  He kept asking me over, and over, and over, and over….  “Where’s your nose?  Where’s your ear?  Where’s your bellybutton?!?!?”

For a while I just kinda ignored him ’cause I thought it was funnny how he kept touching my face and lifting up my shirt.  After a while though I decided to play along and show him that it’s no big deal to touch your nose, ear, or bellybutton.  So, hands-off Daddy!!!!  These are mine and I will show you where they are located if you ask me nicely.

Mommy hasn’t been around to play this game with me.  I heard something about her wanting to eat Boston Cream Pies or something…. I guess she flew on an airplane somewhere (how dare you leave me!) and left Daddy all alone with me.  He did a pretty good job.

I’m still alive.
