Visit to Minnesota

I spent this past week in Minnesota visiting with Grandma and Grandpa and Great Grandpa G. and some of the other family up there.  Daddy had vacation so he whisked me away from Momma (I hear she spent the whole week eating out and seeing movies with friends and getting spa treatments) for five days.

We did lots of things including the zoo and shopping, and I’m hoping Daddy will edit this post because he remembers better than I what went on that week.

Summer Fashion Preview

Momma bought me some summer clothes at Target the other day.  Tonight we tried them on to make sure they fit.  I did a little runway show with each outfit- walking up and down the hallway while Momma tried to snap photos.  I felt like a supermodel.

Here’s a preview of how cute I’m going to be this summer.  Two different looks: one is me as a fun summer wild child; the other is sweet innocent hippy child.  There will be no more mistakin’ this girl for a boy.

My Momma’s Allright, My Dadda’s Allright…

You know what? Daddy is actually pretty cool.

For a while I was feeling like Momma was the best thing on this planet and no-body and no-thing even came close. But I’ve discovered Daddy- and he’s a pretty good substitute. I may even prefer him on occasion.

Sorry for dissing you before, Daddy.

No surgery for me

I met a nice man, Dr. King, today. He says that there is a very good chance my finger will just grow back normal. In fact, it’s already started to “remodel” itself. This is good news and makes Momma and Daddy happy that I don’t have to get any anesthesia. I was curious to learn about what Daddy does for a living… but I guess it’s better that I don’t learn first-hand.

My finger bone is broken into two parts and one part is sticking straight up. But it’s broken in such a way that I can still bend my finger, and it doesn’t hurt. So, the splint is off and I’m back to my usual two-handed antics. I just have to go back for more x-rays in a month to see how the remodeling is going.

They let me eat cake!!!

Momma and Daddy threw me a birthday party this weekend. There were more people in my house than I’ve ever seen and banners and presents and food! Grandma Joyce gave me Momma’s old rockin’ chair. Grandpa Gene gave me a cool pair of Keens. Grandma and Grandpa G. sent me a frog to love. I got some toys and some cards and got to have lots of fun being cute and showing off my splint. But the best part was the birthday cake. Momma loosened up for once and let Daddy bake me a chocolate cake (she was gonna get a “healthy” carrot cake). They came at me with it all of a sudden with everyone making lots of noise and part of the cake was on fire. Cousin Jack put the fire out for me.

The cake was sooooo good. Best food I’ve had yet. Soft and oh-so chocolatey. I ate and ate. I licked the frosting off of the plastic wrap Momma had put on my splint. And it went really well with my new favorite beverage, milk. I made a real mess of myself and caused much amusement and flashing of lightbulbs. I hope I don’t have to wait another year for more of this good stuff!

Thanks to all who came to my party: Carly, Brad, blogging-buddy Elias, Caroline, Fiona, Christine, Lee, Diana, Milan, Auntie Mandy, Uncle John, Cuz Jack and Ryan, and Grandma and Grandpa.

One Tough Cookie

A couple of weeks ago I was playing with one of the dining room chairs and accidentally pulled it down on top of myself. Part of it hit my middle finger and I screamed and my finger swelled up and turned purple. I made a fuss at first but then calmed down when Momma and Daddy comforted me. They had a look and since my finger wasn’t disfigured and I was able to bend it they figured I would be ok. Momma even called the doctor’s office and the nurses said that swelling and purple were ok so long as I could move the finger and it didn’t cause me pain.

But when the swelling didn’t go down they showed my finger to the Dr. and then I had to go get an x-ray at the hospital. The hospital has cool, huge toys. The x-ray tech was nice so I gave him a hug. But then he told Momma my finger was broken and that I had to go to the ER. I got examined by lots of people who seemed amazed that my finger doesn’t bother me. I got a splint (which I plan to pull off at the first opportunity) and an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon.

Momma is very upset and feels very badly about this. I told her not to worry. It’s just a broken finger- it don’t hurt but a bit. I can deal.

Anyway, here’s a photo of me with my splint. It’s heavy and is fun to bang on things. Unfortunately, it’s on my wavin’ hand.
