Great Grandma Ruby

I couldn’t find a photo of she and I yet, but I do want to tell you about my Great Grandma Ruby.  I saw lots of her when I was up in Minnesota this year.  She gave me a bottle once and spent lots of time watching me play.  She’s pretty easy to entertain.

G.G. Ruby is tall like me and artistic like my Momma.  Ruby paints lots of nice pictures in oil and watercolor.  We have a couple examples of her work at home, and there’s lots hanging up in Grandma’s house.  I also hear she’s good at cards.

This year for Christmas, G.G. Ruby gave everyone a very special gift.  She compiled (yes, I know that’s a big word for a baby) a booklet of images from her life to illustrate her story, which she wrote.  It tells about her growing up and becoming a young lady and what her life and family were like.  It’s a great piece of my history that I can read about someday.

Christmas!!!

Today I learned about this awesome ritual called Christmas.  From what I can tell, it involves lots of paper and ribbon and cardboard and family sitting around together playing with paper and ribbon and cardboard.  I like these things, so I had fun.  Momma and Daddy kept trying to distract me from all the paper fun by showing me other things like toys and clothes, and I think that might be part of the Christmas game.  I kept my focus on the paper and ribbon.

All this happened while we were up in Minnesota visiting Grandma and Grandpa and all my aunties and uncles and cousins.  There were so many people to entertain that I hardly found time for napping.  Thankfully cousin Ryan was there too and he could help with keeping the adults occupied and out of trouble.  You have to watch them constantly.

It was a nice vacation and a break from school. Sure did snow a lot.
